Machina coffee, Jenier teas, croissants, scones and cinnamon buns, in a little whitewashed 1903 park building beside the Water of Leith. The rent from the café helps fund improvements to the park.

The story

From park loos to a park café.

It took the Friends of Roseburn Park years of volunteering, planning and fundraising to turn a derelict park building into a place for coffee.

A toilet block

Built on the far side of Roseburn Park from Murrayfield, then left derelict for years.

The Friends of Roseburn Park spent over a decade making the case and raising the money.

Buy-a-brick

Locals bought bricks, grants were won, and the council put in the rest.

2023

The Rosebean opens

Formally opened in summer 2023, and now run by the team behind the Dower House Café.

Your coffee helps the park. The rent from the café goes back into improvements in Roseburn Park.

On the counter

Bakes, rolls & croissants.

It's a small counter with a lot on it. The chalkboards over the shelves list the croissants, and there's always something iced.

The board behind the counter credits two Edinburgh names: the coffee comes from Machina and the tea from Jenier.
